School Captains

All Year 5 students have the opportunity to apply for a school captain or vice-captain position during their last year of schooling at MPS.

Students complete an application form and those students shortlisted present a speech to the current Year 4, 5 and 6 cohort outlining why they would make a great school captain. After the speech the students vote for their top four applicants with the principal confirming the positions after taking all factors into account.

Being a school captain is an amazing privilege as they represent the school, students and community. School leaders are recognised across the school, and as such have greater responsibility and accountability for their actions and behaviour.

House Captains

Each Year 5 student can nominate themselves for a House leadership position for the following school year.

After nominating each applicant presents a short speech to the current Year 5 and 6 group outlining why they would make a great House Captain.

The current Year 5 and 6 group then votes for two Year 5 students in each House who they think will best lead their House for the year ahead, with the principal having the final approval.

It is an honour to be selected for one of these positions. The Houses at Mirripoa Primary School are named after native animals found in the surrounding area. The MPS Houses are the Powerful Owls, Swift Parrots, Flying Foxes and Growling Frogs.

Congratulations to 2026 House Captains.
